A personal invitation to help build something unforgettable
We are inviting ten artists to become the founding creative team behind Blue Collar Collectors: Series One — Working Class Weirdos. Each artist will be assigned four real people from the collecting community and create one finished character illustration for each person.
The artist packet will include the collector’s photos and completed information page. The artist will have full artistic control to create the final character based on the information included in the collector’s packet.

Creative freedom and required boundaries
Creative freedom
- Use the participant’s story as inspiration, not a literal checklist.
- Let your artistic voice lead the concept, composition, humor, action, props, background, and visual storytelling.
- Reinterpret, exaggerate, simplify, change, or ignore the reference image whenever your judgment produces a stronger card.
Required boundaries
- Honor every participant item listed under NEVER INCLUDE.
- Make a good-faith effort to preserve recognizable personal traits or story elements.
- Do not use unauthorized trademarks, logos, copyrighted characters, or protected brand elements.
- Follow final printer/manufacturer specifications and submit original work created by you.
Original-art sale promise
New collector applicants agree to purchase their character’s original if selected. Existing signed agreements remain on file; any clarification is handled directly without resubmitting.
The artist agrees to offer that original first to the featured participant at a fair artist-chosen price that does not exceed $1,000. The sale is directly between artist and participant. Blue Collar Collectors takes no commission unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
- The artist determines the price based on size, medium, detail, time, reputation, and normal market practice, up to $1,000.
- Shipping, insurance, taxes, payment, delivery timing, and framing are arranged between artist and participant.
- The direct original-art sale is separate from any Blue Collar Collectors production compensation unless written terms say otherwise.
Participation agreement
- Assignment. Artist accepts four featured people and creates four finished illustrations total. The same artwork is used for each person’s A and B cards; only the character name changes.
- Schedule. Artist will meet the completed milestone and delivery dates and promptly report expected delays.
- Originality. Artist represents that all submitted artwork is original and that they have authority to enter this agreement.
- Physical originals. Artist retains each original and offers it first to the corresponding participant at a fair price no higher than $1,000.
- Card-production rights. After payment of the completed compensation terms, Artist grants BCC a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to reproduce, print, manufacture, distribute, display, advertise, promote, archive, and sell Project products using the delivered art. BCC retains full ownership of artwork.
- Participant materials. Photos, answers, contact details, and unreleased packets are confidential and may be used only for the assignment.
- Promotion. Artist may announce participation after BCC authorization. BCC may use approved Artist information and previews for Project promotion.
- Compensation. Payment follows the completed fee schedule or written addendum. Direct original-art sales remain separate unless expressly stated.
- Independent artist. Artist is an independent contractor responsible for applicable taxes and ordinary business expenses unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Good-faith resolution. Disputes will first be addressed through direct good-faith discussion. Amendments must be written and accepted by both parties.
- Entire agreement. This brief, signed schedule, completed compensation terms, and written addenda form the complete assignment agreement.
